Bayer and Goanna Ag partnership to help cotton growers improve water use efficiency

Bayer and Goanna Ag today announced the launch of the Water Use Efficiency Grant to myBMP certified growers.

The program will provide myBMP certified growers with access to Goanna Ag’s GoField PLUS technology. GoField Plus uses field data and an analytics platform developed in Australia by CSIRO and CRDC to help growers optimise irrigation scheduling, and will contribute to the cotton industry’s sustainability targets regarding water use efficiency.

Bayer Crop Science Marketing Lead – Seeds & Traits, Kate Connors said Bayer was excited about the program and the benefits it could provide to cotton growers.

“We believe every investment in innovation should also be an investment in sustainability. The Grant achieves this by providing growers access to advanced tools to build on the water use efficiency measures they have in place,” Ms Connors said.

“Early data collected by Goanna Ag has reported farmers can achieve significant water savings using the GoField PLUS technology”.

Cotton Australia Chief Executive Officer, Adam Kay said that we need a wide range of tools available to help to achieve Australia’s cotton industry’s vision to be the global leader in sustainability.

“Australia’s myBMP certified farms produce the world’s best cotton using responsible and efficient management practices. They are highly advanced and sophisiticated in the way they manage water,” Mr Kay said.

“We welcome any new innovation which allows cotton growers to make additional water use efficiency gains.”

Eligible myBMP certified cotton growers who plant Bollgard® 3Roundup Ready Flex® cotton in the 2021/22 season* will receive an email in early August to sign-up to the program.
